No need to abstain - Durex has you covered

New Zealand's largest sexual wellbeing brand has weighed in on the debate about abstinence before a big match, saying the argument for it is misguided.

"There isn't any scientific proof that sex negatively impacts on athletic ability - in fact, there are plenty of proponents of the idea that it actually improves performance," says Adonis Souloglou from Durex.

That includes champion players themselves, such as top ten world ranked tennis players Andy Murray and Francesca Schiavone, who have openly admitted that they don't avoid or they actually choose to have sex before a big match.

Former French Open winner, Ms Schiavone once said to an English journalist: "For a woman, sex before a match is not only allowed, it is fantastic. It raises your hormone levels and brings advantages to all of your points."

"We'd hate for fans - and any of the players - to miss out on weeks of great sex all for nothing," says Adonis.

"And if any All Blacks choose to confirm this for themselves, Durex is happy to provide three months' worth of condoms, lubricant and sex toys so they can make the most of it."
