Nelson based Recording Artist named as a finalist for NEXT Woman of the Year

Meet the role models who have been selected as finalists in the 2011 Next Woman of the Year Awards. They are 25 women from very different walks of life who share some inspirational traits: all are brave individuals with the tenacity to be the best they can be. They think outside the square - whether it be creating a business from a great idea, giving back to the less fortunate or developing groundbreaking technologies that will have a profound inpact on the world in which we live.
About Aly's selection NEXT magazine writes - "This mum of three has let nothing stop her reach her goal of becoming a recording artist fundraising to release her CD creating her own record label and organising her own tour. A talented singer-songwriter with an indie blues sound. Aly also ran the Sounds of Tasman Music Seminar & put together the We Wil Rise Again compilation CD for Christchurch. "
The Judges for the competition include Dr Gareth Morgan, Dame Catherine Tizzard and NEXT Editor Sarah Henry.
Aly is a finalist in the Arts & Culture section along with designer Denise L'Estrange-Corbet, Ainsley Gardner Film Producer, Jill Marshall publisher and Author and Eileen Moran - Visual effects producer.

Aly will attend the cocktail award ceremony for NEXT Woman of the Year in Auckland on the 6th of October & will be filming a music video for the second single release from her album Brand New Day on the 7th of October with Auckland film director Ken Khan
