Flying Nun Records Celebrates 30 Years This
November

Throughout the month of November, Flying Nun Records will celebrate their 30th Anniversary. With over 20 shows throughout New Zealand, the anniversary features both old and new Flying Nun acts, along with some very special guests paying tribute to 30 years of the NZ iconic label.
While, it wouldn’t be a party without live music,
Flying Nun Records also have exciting new releases and
re-releases soon to be available on CD, digitally and on
Vinyl. Plus the exciting announcement of aa handful of new
bands signed to the label.
Legendary Flying Nun bands
THE CLEANTHE CLEAN, HDUHDU, THE BATSTHE
BATS and GHOSTCLUB GHOSTCLUB will all havebe
tourings throughout NZ inthis November.
To launch the
month in Auckland (Friday Nov 4) and Wellington (Sat Nov 5)
we have a showcase of ‘the new face of Flying Nun
Records’ ‘the new face of Flying Nun Records’
with performances from Grayson GilmourGrayson
Gilmour, PopstrangersPopstrangers, T54T54,
Surf FriendsSurf Friends – and more to be
announced.
While down south, F IN MathF IN
Math and turntabilist AlphabetheadAlphabethead
launch their tour which promises to include an interesting
mix of Flying Nun covers, having given Alphabethead a bunch
of Flying Nun vinyl to cut up, re-mix and re-write.
There will also be a series of Flying Nun Records
Tribute Nights across the country and Australia, featuring
some well- known characters and local acts.
In turn, , there will be some very special releases, including ‘Tally Ho!’‘Tally Ho!’ - a double disc 30 Year ‘Best Of’ compilation.
The brilliant 8th Studio album
from THE BATSTHE BATS ‘Free The Monsters’ will be
released on 17th October.
Vinyl re-releases of the
debut albums by The BatsThe Bats - Daddy’s Highway
and Tthe 3DsTthe 3Ds - Hellzapoppin and singles from
our new signings: Pop StrangersPop Strangers, Surf
FriendsSurf Friends and T54T54 with more to be
announced.
We are also working on ‘Time to Go’
– a double LP compilation exploring the label’s early
South Island History, along with a complete vinyl
compilation of the Pin GroupPin Group’s material,
and re-releases of HDUHDU’s ‘Metamatics’ and
The Shocking PinksThe Shocking Pinks first album
‘Dance, the Dance Electric’.
In the long
tradition of Flying Nun Records birthday celebrations, this
year EPIC BEER are making us a 30 Year Ale. Available at the
shows and selected supermarkets in November.
