National MP Nicky Wagner to open her home in
support of Ronald McDonald House South Island
National
MP Nicky Wagner is set to open her own home and host a table
of eight during an evening of simultaneous dinner parties
across Christchurch next month.
Ronald McDonald House
South Island is holding its iconic fundraising gala event,
Supper Club @ Home, on Friday, October 7.
This unique
event will involve people opening up their stunning home, or
likewise special venue, and hosting eight mystery guests for
the evening. Each unique location will be matched with a
chef, who will have full reign in the kitchen whilst cooking
a three-course meal.
Chefs include the likes of
MasterChef finalist Jax Hamilton, Christchurch Casino’s
award-winning Richard Hingston, Jamie Bennett from Taste
Events Company, and former chef at the Crowne Plaza Tony
Smith.
The mystery element adds another twist to the
night, with participating guests not knowing where they will
be dining, or who will be cooking for them, until it is
revealed during a pre-dinner cocktail function at the
Christchurch Casino.
All proceeds go directly to
Ronald McDonald House South Island – a facility that
provides free accommodation and support to families with
children suffering illnesses that require hospital treatment
in Christchurch.
Wagner has been a loyal supporter to
the House since it first opened in 2003, and said it was a
privilege to be involved in Supper Club @
Home.
“I’ve seen the big difference the House
makes for families who have sick children. It must be the
hardest thing for any family and having a supportive place
to go where others understand what you are going through is
invaluable.
“Hosting the Supper Club is a fun thing
to do, an easy way to support Ronald McDonald House and I
don’t even have to enter the kitchen!”
Wagner
encouraged others to show their support.
“Life is
never fair and families with sick children have got the
unkindest cut of all. I am so thankful that I got through
the childhood years of my children without any real
problems. Supporting Ronald McDonald House South Island is a
fantastic way to do something really meaningful for those
families who haven’t been so
lucky.”
