SFRQ 2011 TV programme starts this Saturday on FOUR
About the Show:
Smokefreerockquest 2011 is the
show that tells the stories of New Zealand’s future music
stars as they perform, challenge themselves and grow by
taking part in the country’s premier music competition.
Using a first-person style with no voiceover we hear in the
artists’ own words what drives them, what they love about
music and in many ways what it is to be ateenager today. At
turns funny, touching and inspirational this show helps us
get to know and care for the top 6 acts ahead of our
one-hour special from the National Final.
The stories are
introduced by host Antonia Prebble, who also presents the
National Final one-hour special. Catch tomorrow’s stars
today as we find out which act will be the
Smokefreerockquest National Champion for 2011.

how winning the comp can change your life.

Final, from Rangitoto College, Get Off The Grass. We also
meet the hyper-talented Shana and future leaders Servn8 and
meet anaward winning guitarist –Sam Montgomery. Hosted by

One-Hour Special
Join us as
Antonia Prebble hosts the National Final of the premier
music competition in the county –the Smokefreerockquest.
Filmed at the Claudelands Arena in Hamilton this is the
night where the bands The Peasants, Attic Sky’s, The
Velvet Regime, Get Off The Grass and A Bit Nigel compete
with singer-songwriter Massad to see who will emerge
champion for 2011.

Smokefreerockquest – 23 years of
musical success
Smokefreerockquest is New
Zealand’s only nationwide, live, original music, youth
event. Now well into its third decade, the series of 28
events reaches audiences from Whangarei to Invercargill.
This year the Smokefreerockquest Circus, an expo
withhands-on displays, workshops and careers info was held
as part ofSmokefreerockquest in main centres.

1988 by music teachers Glenn Common and Pete Rainey, who now
run Rockquest Promotions full time out of Nelson,
Smokefreerockquest has become a New Zealand institution.

Our Future initiative and that Smokefreerockquest
plays a large part in getting its key messages and its
