Ukrainian community in NZ marks 62 years immigration to NZ

Ukrainian Association of New Zealand marks 20 years of Ukrainian Independence and 60 years of Ukrainian immigration to New Zealand

Community of 1300 celebrates by displaying traditional dance, music and arts to NZ audience

Auckland, November 2, 2011: Ukrainian Association of New Zealand (www.nzukrainians.org) is holding a Cultural Concert Extravaganza on Saturday, 5th of November, 4pm at the Hawkins Theatre, Papakura, Auckland. The concert is the biggest cultural event conducted by Ukrainian community in New Zealand to the date. UANZ is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence and over 60 years of Ukrainian settlement in New Zealand after the end of the World War II.

This celebrations feature some of the top Ukrainian musicians and dancers from New Zealand and Australia including Ukrainian Youth Association Dance Group Zahrava from Sydney, Valeriy Maksymov -a member of the viola section of the Christchurch Symphony, Vocal ensemble MineAccord, Hamilton, conductor Clive Ladmin, Auckland Ukrainian Community Choir directed by Oleg Kuznetsov and many more exciting acts.

This event is attended by Chargé d'Affaires a.i. – Mr Stanislav Stashevskyi of the Embassyof Ukrainian in Australia, MP Dr. Cam Calder, MP David Shearer, Stefan Romaniv – Chairmen, Federation of the Ukrainian Organizations in Australia, Secretary General Ukrainian World Congress, Mr. Randy Berry, Consul-General, Consulate General of the USA, John Robinson and Brent Catchpole from Auckland City Council, Bernard Gomes, Senior Ethnic Affairs Advisor, Mr. Jurgis Peciulaitis, Honorary Consul, Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr. John Roy-Wojciechowski, Honorary Consul, Consulate of the Republic of Poland, Miklós Szabó JP, Honorary ConsulRepublic of Hungary, Stepan Duma, Head of the National Committee Ukrainian Youth Association Australia.
