Giant band set to Rock Hawera
ALT Fest
London based kiwi alternative rockers ‘I Am Giant’ will be the lead act at Hawera’s inaugural ALT Fest on Saturday 17 December.
South Taranaki District Council’s community services and development group manager Fiona Greenhill says she is really pleased to secure such a big name rock back as ‘I Am Giant’ and expects there will be strong demand for tickets from across the region.
“The ALT Fest idea came out of the successful event held last year by Anthony Iwikau at the same time as the Push Bike Pub Crawl,” says Ms Greenhill. “The ALT Fest, like its name, offers people an exciting, fun, alternative event in a safe and secure environment.”
“Ultimately, I would love to see this become a major annual event which attracts people from around the country to South Taranaki – but we’ll see how this first one goes before we get ahead of ourselves,” she says.
Gates open at 1.30pm and the event starts at 2pm at the Hawera Show Grounds (Williams Avenue entrance) with New Plymouth DJ Cleo G, followed by local band 3rd Avenue before the feature Act, ‘I Am Giant’.
This is an R16 event and ID will be required. BYO alcohol is permitted, however the amount and its use will be strictly controlled. Food will be available for purchase.
Tickets are available from Tuesday 29 November for $27 (plus booking fee) from the South Taranaki i-SITE Visitor Centre or Ticketdirect (www.ticketdirect.co.nz) or 0800 4 TICKET.
This event is sponsored by South Taranaki District Council and The Rock FM.
