HANDMADE 2012 Programme Published
Wellington, 9 December
2011
Something old, something new,
something quirky - just for you!
What do
preserves, amigurumi, cheese making, quilting and rubber
stamps have in common? They all feature in the HANDMADE 2012
programme released today.
“HANDMADE is a festival for people who want to learn the skills and crafts of previous generations but in today’s context, using modern technology and style,” says HANDMADE creator, Melanie Walker.
And, just as with the inaugural HANDMADE held earlier this year the 2012 event will be another exciting, enjoyable and inspiring occasion.
Held in Wellington over Queen’s Birthday weekend HANDMADE 2012 will feature a comprehensive mix of 80 different activities featuring a variety of handmade crafts taught by passionate, expert teachers.
“We’re delighted to be able to bring well regarded experts such as Lynda Hallinan editor of NZ Gardener magazine, food writer and caterer Ruth Pretty, fashion designer Tamsin Cooper, Interior Designer Alex Fulton, Australian Quilter and Author Kathy Doughty to HANDMADE,” says Melanie.
Some classes are back by popular demand, some teachers will be returning with new things to teach and there are new HANDMADE experts as well. Classes are organised into categories, Remade, Taste, Yarn, Homework, Heirloom, World, Stitch and Free Range.
“The essence of HANDMADE is about bringing together experts to pass on their skills to people wanting to learn more about different crafts that are experiencing a renaissance. The programme we’ve got will once again bring a lot of choice to people wanting to learn in a friendly and enjoyable workshop environment,” says Melanie.
