RHYTHM AND VINES announces final line-up additions

For immediate release Wednesday 14 December

RHYTHM AND VINES announces final line-up additions including
Sonic Bids artists and new names on the Red Bull Music Academy stage

With only 15 sleeps to go, Rhythm and Vines is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet with further additions to an already epic line-up including the winners of the Sonic Bids competition and new billings for the Red Bull Music Academy Stage.

Rhythm & Vines is the first promoter in New Zealand to use Sonic Bids to find talent and this year, organisers have chosen seven artists to perform at the infamous Summer festival. Sonic Bids is a website created to connect any band from any genre with music promoters around the world. And with over 220,000 bands, 19,000 promoters from more than 100 countries, and booking more than 60,000 gigs a year; it’s a veritable hub of up-and-coming musicians. Spanning indie, soul, funk, and new-folk; this year’s selection includes Hikoikoi, Jesse Sheehan, Nat Rose, Danny Coddling, Janine And The Mixtape, Bears With Guns, and Super Villains.

“We’re really excited to be working with Sonic Bids again to tap into new talent in New Zealand and Australia,” says Programme Director, Hamish Pinkham.

“One of our visions for Rhythm and Vines was to provide a platform for up-and-coming talent to showcase their music, and it’s fantastic that this continues today.”

Rhythm and Vines has also added to the billing for the Red Bull Music Academy stage– the home of cutting edge talent, as curated by Nick D. Joining the likes of Clap Clap Riot, Electric Wire Hustle, Scratch 22 and The Ruby Suns will be UK house DJ, Doc Daneeka and grimy techno-soul aficionado, Nick Hook.

Fresh off the back of a stint at the Red Bull Music Academy this year, Daneeka promises to deliver some of the best house music around right now, favouring syncopated beats and polyrhythms over linear. Then taking it in to the wee hours, Hook will follow Doc’s set with his unique strain of acid-fried bassline and vintage drum machines.

DJ ZINC
It is with regret Rhythm & Vines announces that DJ Zinc will no longer be joining the 2011 line-up, due to a scheduling conflict.

Club Stolen and onsite camping update
Onsite camping is now SOLD OUT; and VIP tickets are limited – don’t miss out on your ticket to the best view in the house plus access to Stolen Rum’s resident Rum Runners mixing cocktails to perfection.
