Naughty TOYS
proves a hit for BATS Theatre Fundraiser!
In the second annual Christmas Fundraiser
for the beloved Wellington Theatre, TOYS brought together
the theatre community for 14 performances of hilarious
festive fun, fundraising over $5,000 for the BATS Theatre
back stage and green room areas.
Written by comic talents Natalie Medlock and Dan Musgrove (Christ Almighty), and directed by Sophie Roberts; over 30 actors donated their talent and time to perform eight delightful & devious toy monologues.
“We got a fantastic response from audiences and the
greater theatre community and it has been a really fun way
to end what has been a challenging year for a lot of people
working in the arts,” says BATS Programme Manager
Martyn Wood. “We are really excited that, as well as
fundraising for BATS, we have been able to support the
Wellington City Mission and their annual Christmas appeal.
It feels good to be able to take some of the generosity
shown towards BATS and pay it forward.”
BATS is
proud to announce this fundraiser collected over 200 cans of
donated food for the Wellington City Mission Christmas Food
Bank appeal. Well-done Wellington!
As well as the generous audiences and actors we would also like to sincerely thank our wonderful sponsors - Resene Paints, Hell Pizza, Café Laffare, Iko Iko, Red Bull NZ, FishHead Magazine, GrabOne, Metro Productions, The Big Picture, Phantom Billstickers and the Museum Hotel – and our funding partners – Wellington City Council, Pub Charity and the Infinity Foundation.
We look forward to seeing you at BATS Theatre 2012!
Merry Christmas,
Xx BATS
