The Voices Of The Sound Announced

From 1 January 2012, MediaWorks Radio will begin broadcasting a new nationwide radio station - The Sound. Offering a contemporary celebration of timeless rock, The Sound will play music from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac to Queen, Eagles to David Bowie and U2.

With a line up of announcers that will complement the no-hype, no-BS attitude of the station with a relevant and informative presentation focused on the music, The Sound is set to become a favourite with its 35-59 year old male target audience.

The Sound breakfast show will be hosted by Mark McCarron and Geoff Bryan, both huge fans of the music with extensive radio experience under their belts. The show will begin at the earlier than usual time of 5am and will be music-focused with news and information every 20 minutes.

Heather Keats will host the 10am to 3pm show. Heather is well known for her news reading, announcing and voiceover work with MediaWorks Radio.

The workday continues with Mark Smith taking over the reins from 3pm. Mark has over 30 years experience in music radio and as Music Director for The Sound he’ll be the perfect host to present the music in an uncluttered and informative way.

Tim Homer completes the line up on air from 8pm till midnight, while James Coleman will feature on The Sound weekends.

Program Director Vaughan Hobbs is excited to confirm the line up and adds “These guys know and love the music. They won’t clutter it up with inane chatter, that’s a promise.”
