Aces stick with same 13 for final

MEDIA RELEASE

Friday, 20 January 2012

The Aces will put their faith in the same 13 players that contested the last preliminary game of the HRV Cup for this Sunday's final against the Canterbury Wizards at Colin Maiden Park.

Coach Paul Strang and skipper Gareth Hopkins will wait till Sunday to see what the weather and pitch conditions are like before naming their final eleven to contest the final.

That final should be an enthralling contest after the Wizards chased down a massive total on Tuesday. But as far as Strang is concerned that contest is already ancient history.

"You always look at a game and take things from it, and we definitely looked hard at certain areas, but that's well and truly done and we're focusing on everything we need to do to win the final."

The Aces will enjoy the home advantage for the second season in a row and Strang says they'd love to have a large and vocal crowd behind them on Sunday.

"It's a great boost to hear the crowd and feel that positive response to every wicket and boundary, so we really hope that Colin Maiden Park is packed out and we can make it a factor for us."

The thirteen from which an eleven will be chosen is as follows:

Gareth Hopkins (c)
Andre Adams
Michael Bates
Brad Cachopa
Colin de Grandhomme
Martin Guptill
Ronnie Hira
Anaru Kitchen
Azhar Mahmood
Bruce Martin
Chris Martin
Kyle Mills
Colin Munro
