7th Scape September 2013
7th Scape September 2013
2012 is already into its second month, and planning has begun in earnest for 7th SCAPE in September 2013.
6th SCAPE was undoubtedly the most challenging we have ever delivered. We are proud to have installed and operated five artworks, a fundraising art auction, artist talks, panel discussions and children's workshops. You can view the video that records the extraordinary year below. There were, however, inevitably disappointments along the way for the artists, our team and audience. A number of our key public interfaces were cancelled, and those things which we were unable to deliver - the parade, the visitor hub and much of the planned comprehensive public programme - are now being reassessed for inclusion in 7th SCAPE.
We hit the streets
and the internet during 6th SCAPE to find out what people
thought of the event, and the overwhelming feedback was that
people liked what they saw, but they wanted more artworks,
more information and more interaction. All we can say is we
wholeheartedly agree and STAY TUNED!!
As part of our
long-term commitment to installing art by Christchurch
artists in our city, we are providing opportunities for
local artists to develop their skills and to be exposed to
new creative stimulus. This year sees the launch of the
inaugural SCAPE / Artspace Sydney Artist residency; see
below for details about how to apply.
I am delighted to
announce two new appointments to the SCAPE team, Anna
Colthart and Jo Mair. We can already see the very valuable
contribution that Anna and Jo are making to SCAPE.
With 2011 behind us, and a new and strengthened team, we look forward to presenting the most engaging SCAPE to date in September 2013.
