Happy Because You Sing?
Happy Because You Sing?
Some people sing because they are happy, but many more are happier because they sing. If you are like that then here’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
Mighty River Harmony is looking for men who get enjoyment from singing. The 60-strong Waikato chorus is the largest and one of the most successful barbershop singers group in the country. It wants to build numbers further to boost its sound ready for the national convention in Auckland in September.
The chorus is holding Open Nights on Tuesday this week and next week (13th & 20th), and Musical director Gary Taylor invites men to come along and join in the vocal warm-ups.
“It will be fun and informal, and an opportunity to experience the pleasure of producing four-part harmony,” he says.
“Lack of experience is not a problem – we have an ongoing programme of training in the finer points of harmony singing. Ability to read music is an advantage but not essential because CDs are available to help with learning songs.”
The Open Nights will be at the McMeekan Centre, Ruakura campus, starting at 7.30pm.
