Electrique Burlesque @ Cassette Nine, Thursday 5th April

Electrique Burlesque @ Cassette Nine, Thursday 5th April

Electrique Burlesque is a stunning new club night featuring cool as ice burlesque acts married to twice as nice electronic dance music.

Kicking off Thursday April 5 at Cassette Nine on Auckland’s Vulcan Lane, Electrique Burlesque returns first Thursday of every month, 9pm-3am, with future plans to turn the newly renovated back bar into a saucy den of iniquity.
This electrifying new club night stars New Zealand’s Queen of Burlesque, Leda Petit, with guest performers Holly Day, Juicy Lush and Geoff Gilson, presenting the sexiest, edgiest, coolest burlesque ever seen in this country. Music supplied by Barney von Pavemunt and DJ Trilogy, off the boat from Ireland.

Leda Petit is renowned for her stunning range as a burlesque artist, with comparisons to Dita von Teese and the glamour girls of the 50s and 60s. An integral part of the Auckland burlesque scene and eminently quotable, she’s performed throughout New Zealand and Australia, including a season of highly regarded shows at Cassette a couple of years ago.

Eschewing traditional burlesque for an entirely modern approach, Electrique Burlesque is a chance to dress to the nines and party like it’s 1999, though this definitely isn’t a retro night.

If you fancy listening and dancing to the likes of Colder, Depeche Mode, The XX, Boogie Corporation, Grimes, LCD Soundsystem, Joy Division, Studio, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, Prins Thomas, Severed Heads, Pollyester, The Emperor Machine, L.S.B, Gatto Fritto, Throbbing Gristle, Lindstrøm, D.A.F, Todd Terje, Coyote, The Glimmers, Tiago, The Juan MacLean, Fujiya & Miyagi, Cos/Mes, then this is your night.

Prizes for best outfits or costumes, from high glamour to fetish, uniforms, sci-fi or whatever weird and wild ideas people dream up, will turn the party into a no-holds-barred experience for performers and public alike.
Electrique Burlesque is a chance to dress up and act up, once a month, while being entertained by burlesque performers and acts strutting their stuff in an atmosphere of dark disco decadence.

Just $10 on the door, with special Electrique Burlesque cocktails and teapots, not to mention scintillating support from a range of characters on the local burlesque scene. Watch out for a special guest performer from the UK on Thursday May 3!
