Wellington Fashion Week’s first ever high-fashion group show, went off with a bang this evening in the beautiful Old Museum, Great Hall. With a sell-out crowd, hundreds delighted in the SS12/13 and current collections of Taylor Boutique, moochi, Trelise Cooper, Ashley Fogel, Hermione Flynn, Lucy McIntosh, Mardle and Nouveau.
The action commenced backstage with cameras and film crew weaving through long limbed models, as Hair Director Michael Beel for Wella, and make-up director Olivia Wild, worked their magic capture the essence of high-fashion and edgy femininity.
Michael Beel impressed the masses with creations inspired by the sculptural elements of the designers’ garments, achieving a high-class, edgy editorial image.
Beel exclaims that “the support from Wella and Sebastian were absolutely key to the success of the look and originality”.
Olivia Wild’s fine make-up artistry captured the essence of the all-powerful woman, and showcased her own handmade bindis for Hermione Flynn’s collection.
The show kicked off with Hermione Flynn’s collection of cool palates, strong lines with a soft feminine touch, achieved through layering and statement fabrics.
Ashley Fogel’s collection followed with a standout presence and upbeat flare; with prints, polka dots and colour mixed with leather jackets achieving an edgy feel.
Putting a twist on the classic white button up shirt, Lucy McIntosh’s collection featured tailored shirts, mixed up through layers and a play on lengths. There was clear architecture through the strong lines and the volume built into the pants.
Nouveau’s collection showcased printed t-shirts with an intricate black print, highlighted by the pairing with undemanding pants.

Taylor Boutique captured the audience’s attention with a dramatic opening fashion film, before showcasing a collection of heavy layered black and white pieces, softened by curves and long trains. The strong contrast of the black and white was broken up with the change from solid colour to patterns and stripes.
Trelise Cooper’s collection took us on a journey with patterned dresses, woollen vests, lace and frills; achieving a sophisticated 50’s equestrian feel. True to her signature style the Trelise’s collection left no detail forgotten.
Julian Danger, held a launch party that left all onlookers feeling as though they’d witnessed something truly Wellington, and truly unique.
True to Amy-Rose’s style, the event featured the perfect balance and juxtaposition of glamour and grunge. Floral fairy lights lined an area of floor space used as a runway and beautiful half painted brick walls, were adorned with posters of flowers and the collection title ‘Violet’.
