Anything To Do With Parenting – Advice, Courses And
Resources
Parenting is the most important job we will ever have, but how much support are New Zealand families getting?
Recent media reports have highlighted the guilt mums feel as they struggle to find a balance between their work and home lives, the stress families feel as they try and make ends meet financially, and the competitiveness there is between parents as they strive to do the very best for their children.
The thing is, most parents are already doing a pretty good job – they just need some insights and confidence to make their parenting journey easier and better. They just need a place to go - they need The Parenting Place.
The organisation known as Parents Inc. began nearly 20 years ago, when its founders had a dream to inspire and encourage New Zealand families.
Now it’s got a new name. The main reason to change from Parents Inc. to The Parenting Place is that we think it is a better name! It is also a better fit with who we now are: after nearly 20 years of growth and development, The Parenting Place has become a place thousands of parents find support and encouragement, wherever they are on their parenting journey.
"We passionately believe family is everything”, says CEO Bruce Pilbrow. “We support parents in a wide range of ways: small group Toolbox parenting courses, large community-wide events, programmes specifically for Maori and Pasifika families, workshops, webinars and other web-based resources. We publish a quarterly magazine, free resources and a wide range of material for sale. We have parenting coaches available to help parents when they are stuck and a network of experts and professionals we can refer people to. We also serve families through our Attitude Programmes for Schools, and the NYLD events for emerging leaders. We are here for families in New Zealand, wherever they are on their parenting journey.
“We are the go-to people for anything to do with parenting,” says Bruce. “We get it – we're parents too.”
