Age Concern supports Youth Week 19 - 27 May 2012

Age Concern New Zealand knows the importance of intergenerational connections.

The organisation’s Chief Executive, Ann Martin challenges young and older New Zealanders to make a point of spending time together next week.

“Younger people and older people spending more time together is a win-win. Mutual trust and respect comes from good relationships across age groups and benefits society as a whole.”

Age Concern wants people from all generations to recognize the value in learning from each other.

“We know life is becoming increasingly busy, and often families are spread out however connections between the generations must be valued

“Older people may have the time to spend with youth and young people can add a real richness to an older person’s life.”

Age Concern helps promote mutual respect across the generations by organizing activities that bring young and old together. Many Age Concerns run texting classes, set up inter-generational competitions, and hold social occasions that encourage mixing of the age groups.
