New Zealander David Lloyd's photo 'In the flick of a tale' is one of the stunning images selected by BBC Wildlife Magazine and London's Museum of Natural History to be included in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

What does it take to capture a winning image? What's the story behind the subtle flick of the giraffe’s tale that made all the difference to the shot? Join David, who has travelled from London for this expert session at the museum, as he discusses this award-winning shot and other photographs in his incredible portfolio.

An astronaut's photo album would be hard to beat. Join us to hear from current NASA astronaut Stephanie Wilson who will share colourful stories about her life in space this Saturday afternoon.

What is life really like at zero gravity? Find out from Stephanie who has already taken part in three missions to space.

MUSEUM SPECIMENS RICH PICKINGS FOR YOUNG PAPARAZZI

Our Wildlife Paparazzi Patrol is proving very popular with our young photographers relishing their mission to document their favourite museum specimens. Most of our morning sessions are full now but you can still book the kids in for an afternoon of holiday fun!

Mon – Fri during the holidays, 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm
$5 per child, meet in the Atrium

REMINDER: LATE THIS EVENING

Join us for LATE this evening, where CAMERA will be open for viewing from 6.30pm till just past 7pm.

At 7.15pm sit back and watch tall poppy Taika Waititi’s 18-minute short film Tama Tu before our panel tackles the subject of “pride” in 2012 LATE series – the Seven Deadly Sins.
Backbenchers host Wallace Chapman and our panellists Independent Maori Statutory Board chief executive, Brandi Hudson; esteemed author, journalist and television presenter, Gordon McLauchlan; and Associate Professor Dr Peter Lineham will look at pride in New Zealand – are we a proud nation? Do we have much to be proud of? Are our great achievers knocked back by our tall poppy syndrome?
After the talk enjoy great entertainment curated by Charles Royal and Anton Blank including a performance from Hinewehi Mohi.

Calling all budding animators aged 5 – 12. Don't miss the rare chance to be part of our animation workshops with Ali and Maka, animation directors from the hit show bro'Town.

You will gain invaluable tips from industry professionals and, depending which workshop you take, you’ll create a storyboard and bring your own character to life using animation software, or by building your own zoetrope!
