Henry Withdraws from Silver Ferns Squad

Silver Fern wing defence Joline Henry has withdrawn from the Silver Ferns squad after announcing her pregnancy but is still keen to return to Netball in 2013.

Henry (29) who is due early next year made her debut in 2004 and has 68 Silver Ferns test caps to her name.

Henry has indicated she wants to make a return to Netball for next year’s ANZ Championship and the 2013 Silver Ferns season.

"It's still a bit hard to believe but Leif and I are absolutely delighted with the news and really excited for this new chapter of our lives", said Henry.

Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu says it’s fantastic that players can have a family and then come back to the game at the highest level.

“Joline will be missed in the upcoming Silver Ferns season, but for now, we wish her all the best and look forward to her return. This now opens up an exciting opportunity for another athlete to prove the form to the National Selectors,” Taumaunu said.

The Silver Ferns squad for 2012-13 will be announced, Monday 30 July.
