CRC Speedshow Set To Blast Off With Jet-Powered Entertainment

Click for big version.

This year’s CRC Speedshow gets a jet-powered boost to the entertainment line-up with the record-setting Go Fast jet pack pilot set to fly around the show.

The hydrogen peroxide-fuelled jet pack is making a special appearance each day of the two-day motorsport and auto extravaganza at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds over the weekend of 21 and 22 July. With pilot Eric Scott at the controls, the world record-setting Go Fast jet pack produces around 800 horsepower of thrust for its high speed 25 second bursts of flight.

The jet-powered flights are just one component of an exciting line-up of entertainment in the Ezybuy Car Auctions live action arena, says CRC Speedshow developer Keith Sharp.

“The Go Fast jet pack flights are certainly adding a whole new dimension to the line-up at this year’s CRC Speedshow,” says Sharp.

“We’re also delighted to have Sky Zhao to have his first outing in his new V8-powered 350Z and other stars of the D1NZ drift series set to show us their impressive moves around the arena.

“New Zealand stunt driver, Peter Bell – who holds the Guinness world record for parallel parking – and his team from Drive Rush deliver three dynamic performances on Saturday and Sunday. Their ability to drive on two wheels is something not to be missed!”

Sharp also welcomes motorcycle stunt specialist Nic Kroeze to CRC Speedshow for the first time.

“Nic Kroeze, from StuntNZ, sure gets up to some crazy antics on his Honda.

“The Mini timed ‘motokhana’ runs have been sure favourites for show visitors in recent years, so we’re thrilled that the Mini Racing Drivers Club will again be back to show us just how quick and nimble their Minis are around the tight, timed course.”

Ezybuy Car Auctions live action arena fires up three times a day – 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm – on Saturday and Sunday. Also, the Meguiar’s Car Crazy cruise rumbles into the arena around 11 on Sunday morning, a sight not to be missed.

“There’s plenty to for kids of all ages to do – younger ones can drive themselves in Kruzin Kids electric hot rods,” adds Sharp. “There are V8 simulators to race, lots of giveaways, meet your favourite racing drivers and get a signed poster, or have a go on a giant Scalextric slot car set and buy die-cast models.”

The sixth annual CRC Speedshow is open from 9 am Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July. Tickets are available at the gate with an adult day pass $20, children aged 10 to 15 years $10 and children under 10 years free. A family pass for two adults and up to three children is available for $50.

News and information about CRC Speedshow is updated on the website, www.speedshow.co.nz, on a regular basis or follow the show on Facebook and Twitter.
