Regina Spektor to Tour

REGINA SPEKTOR
ANNOUNCES THEATRE SHOWS FOR AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND!

The Frontier Touring Company is delighted to announce the return of New York virtuoso, Regina Spektor to Antipodean shores.

This will be Spektor’s first run of headline shows in Australia and New Zealand since 2010’s sold-out tour that introduced her music to a new legion of fans.

Spektor’s phenomenal voice has guided the way through a prolific catalogue filled with songs of satire, heartache and novelty, manifested in six critically acclaimed studio albums.

‘Spiking piano-driven songs of heartbreak with comic turns of phrase, cartoon voices and beatboxing outbursts, Regina Spektor has become her generation's Joni Mitchell – a singer-songwriter who nail-guns emotional truths between wisecracks.’ – Rolling Stone

From heart wrenching tracks like ‘Samson’ and ‘Hero’ to songs that spread a smile across your face like ‘Dance Anthem of the 80s’ and ‘That Time’, Spektor has the inherent ability to compose a masterpiece for every occasion.

The talented troubadour’s latest offering is her much anticipated sixth studio album, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats (out now through Warner).

Over eleven songs, Spektor showcases her wild imagination, vast vocal range and incredible mastering of song-writing:

‘Regina is a musician who is never content to sit still. In part, that is why What We Saw From The Cheap Seats is a downright scary album. An artist who could already seemingly do no wrong went and became even more perfect.’ – Sputnik Music

‘Regina Spektor doesn’t fall back on airy whispers or hippy dreamings to create her music; instead, her storytelling dives into the hyperreal, through an occasionally confusing but always masterful lyrical suite.’ – The Brag

Those lucky enough to experience a live performance by Spektor see her songwriting process come alive. Her intuitive performances capture audiences in a series of piano notes, fanciful phrases and hand claps.

Fans across Europe got their first taste of new songs from What We Saw From The Cheap Seats like ‘All The Rowboats’ and ‘Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)’ as well as old favourites when the enchanting songstress took to the stage earlier this month –
‘The skittish, piano-pounding Russian entrances the grand hall with a near perfect night of graceful songs and charming self-deprecating whimsy... The ovation was standing No wonder: this was her big moment and she barely fluffed a line.’ – London Evening Standard

‘Her piano and her imagination see her sail through 24 songs tonight, none quite like the one before, yet all anchored by lovely, classically trained playing.’ – The Guardian
Joining Spektor on her tour of Australia and New Zealand will be New York songwriter Only Son. Jack Dishel, the man behind Only Son, has lent his musical talents to many critically acclaimed performers over his impressive career, having previously performed with Nickel Eye, Stipplicon and The Moldy Peaches.

“The young American is a future headliner without a doubt.”
– BBC Birmingham

Only Son’s latest release ‘Searchlight’ sees Dishel collaborating with the likes of The Strokes, Of Montreal and Little Joy for an album that showcases his impeccable song writing talent. The album even features a duet written and performed with Spektor herself.

Spektor’s enchanting and exquisite performances are guaranteed to leave audiences inspired. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the magic for yourself this December.
