Superb start to spring at Treble Cone
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (September 3, 2012) – The South Island’s largest ski area, Treble Cone, received its greatest snowfall of the season, setting up the resort for great spring skiing and riding.
Over the weekend Treble Cone received 65cm of new snow across the mountain. It snowed down to the base building throughout Sunday making for an excellent powder day.
The recent snowfalls and ideal snow-making conditions throughout the season ensured Treble Cone established a good snow base of 126cms in the Saddle Basin 91cm in the Home Basin to last through to the end of the season.
Spring is a great time to visit Treble Cone, the resort is traditionally quieter, the snow is in good condition and the warm and sunny climates add to the enjoyment.
Nick Noble, Treble Cone sales and marketing manager believes spring is an excellent time to ski and ride at Treble Cone, “We have had a good season so far with strong visitor numbers. With great snow conditions we still have four weeks of fantastic skiing and riding and are looking forward to enjoying the sunnier days of spring,” he said.
Treble Cone’s spring event’s calendar has a good mix of competitions for all snow sports disciplines and abilities including: Pump Mini Mountain Weekend (15-16 Sept) a great event for juniors to improve their big mountain skills the Base Triple Comp (22 Sept) a Banked Slalom, an expressions session and either a jib jam or Norwegian Downhill to finish. An event for the ladies Get the Girls Out will bring female skiers and snowboarders together. The events are designed to attract locals and a broad mix of skiers and riders with the focus on fun and giving it a go.
