Wilson's Turn This Weekend
Wilson's Turn This Weekend
Wellington's Karl Wilson is the latest Kiwi
karter to take on a major event overseas, the reigning New
Zealand SuperKart champion and Grand Prix winner in the
United States this weekend contesting the annual Stars of
SuperKarts invitational meeting at the Laguna Seca circuit
in northern California.
Over the past
two weekends Auckland-based international Daniel Bray has
competed at the annual World Cup for KZ2 meeting in Italy,
and the biggest contingent so far - eight drivers -
contested Australia's annual Rotax National Championship
meeting in Dubbo in inland New South Wales.
This weekend's Corkscrew International meeting is
part of the Northern California Karting Association's annual
SuperKart series and is part of the big Continental Tire
Sports Car festival meeting at the Laguna Seca circuit,
sharing the card with Rolex Sports Cars, Star Mazda
single-seaters and the Grand Am ContinentalTire Challenge
series.
A field of up to 40
high-powered SuperKarts will compete at the meeting with
qualifying today (Friday), a preliminary race on Saturday
morning and the main event, the Stars of SuperKarts race, on
Sunday afternoon.
