Documentary NZ Trust Has Its Own Curated Pledgeme Page

PRESS RELEASE MONDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2012

Documentary NZ Trust Has Its Own Curated Pledgeme Page

Documentary New Zealand Trust is proud to announce that it has partnered with PledgeMe, New Zealand’s funding platform for creative projects, to create its own curated page at PledgeMe.

“Crowd-funding is an important and contemporary avenue for filmmakers to get funding and offers multiple benefits such as audience building, engagement and financial support,” says Alex Lee, Documentary NZ Trust Director and Founder.

“PledgeMe is leading the charge in New Zealand of this growing movement and we’re happy to be collaborating with them to support documentary filmmaking and our DOC Pitch and DOC Lab campaigns. It is a very exciting way to engage audiences in the making of documentary films.”

Documentary NZ Trust is New Zealand’s leading promoter of documentary filmmaking and industry. At the closing session of its pan-industry event, Screen Edge Forum 2012, the meeting mandated Documentary NZ Trust to develop and identify new and additional ways to support and promote documentary filmmaking. As part of this work, Documentary NZ Trust has developed the first curated PledgeMe page of New Zealand film projects.

The Documentary NZ Trust will use its extensive social media and industry networks to encourage the public to pledge their support for these projects. Documentary NZ Trust will carefully select projects it wishes to see exhibited at Documentary Edge Festival by filmmakers or production companies who have had work featured in past editions of Documentary Edge Festival, or who have participated in Screen Edge Forum, DOC Pitch or DOC Lab with a demonstrable record of quality and delivery. The Trust will also support projects by new and emerging filmmakers. Transmedia documentary projects are eligible. Donors can pledge to these projects knowing that the Documentary Edge Festival will be keen to screen the completed projects.
