TEDxTeAro - Dates & Location Announced!
The coolest little capital in the world will be hosting a TEDx event in December.
TEDxTeAro organiser DK shared details for the much anticipated event: “We’re delighted to announce that TEDxTeAro will be coming to you from the National Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa on Saturday 1st December 2012. Big thanks to Wellington City Council for supporting us to secure the venue - we’re very excited to be able to host TEDx in such an auspicious venue."
TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) is a nonprofit devoted to “ideas worth spreading”, holding events where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Their talks are then made freely available online.
Whilst there are only 100 tickets for the TEDxTeAro event, the organisers are using Catalyst90’s cutting edge streaming technology to make the event available both on the website and through the Facebook page. This will also be backed up with ShowGizmo’s event service which will come in the form of a TEDxTeAro mobile app which will be available closer to the day and will keep patrons up to date with speakers & event information.
With TEDxTeAro planned for 1st December, more details about tickets and speakers will be confirmed very soon. For more information as it is released, sign up to the newsletter, join the facebook page, or follow @tedxtearo on twitter.
DK has been overwhelmed by Wellington’s response to the launch of TEDxTeAro: “We were trending on Twitter within a couple of hours of the launch, and since then the suggestions for speakers, volunteer registrations, and offers of help have been rolling in thick and fast. We’re humbled to have the support of so many people of Wellington, and indeed around the country. Whilst there will only be a limited number of tickets available for the event, we’re glad to be using the latest technology to extend TEDxTeAro out to the wider community via the web."
