Silver Ferns Team for Quad Series confirmed

25 September 2012: The NNZ National Selectors today named the Silver Ferns team to compete in the upcoming Quad Series for both the Australian and New Zealand legs of the tour.

Midcourter Grace Ramussen and shooter Anna Thompson have been called in for the Australian leg of the Quad Series which includes test matches, in Adelaide, Newcastle and Sydney. For the New Zealand leg of the series Camilla Lees and Jodi Brown will make a return to the team with test matches in Wellington, Tauranga and Hamilton.

Taumaunu said the New World Netball Quad Series provided a great opportunity to further develop depth within the Silver Ferns squad.

“It’s a great opportunity for both Anna and Grace to stamp their marks in the side and for Jodi and Camilla to build on their performances in the Constellation Cup,” said Taumaunu.

One of Taumaunu’s goal during this busy international calendar has been to maximise the opportunities for the full squad of 15, and the Ferns coach believes she can do that by targeting the Quad Series in two stages – the three tests in Australia and three in New Zealand.

“We are mindful that this is a busy international season for players and that we want to develop depth within the squad,” she said.

The Silver Ferns will play South Africa in Adelaide, as their first test match for the Quad Series.

Midcourt: Laura Langman (vice-captain), Grace Rasmussen, Bailey Mes, Kayla Cullen

Defence: Leana de Bruin, Katrina Grant, Anna Harrison, Casey Williams (captain)
