Zoo offers an adventurous night out in Africa

Aucklanders can go on safari to see some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife and enjoy an authentic African dinner without leaving town by getting along to Auckland Zoo’s Africa Night on Sunday 14 October from 4.30pm to 9.30pm.

The evening is a fundraiser for the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund and Zoological Society of Auckland to help support conservation projects and provide grants to further conservation work or studies.

Along with up-close animal experiences and a traditional South African dinner, Africa Night will also feature an auction of artworks led by entertainer and MC ‘Doris Crusher’ (aka Clare Kelso), and a talk by guest speaker Claire Vial. A wildlife photographer, author, zoologist and tour leader, Ms Vial will be sharing her experiences from recent travels in Kenya and Tanzania.

“This is a fantastic event that we really encourage Aucklanders to support. Everyone who comes along not only gets to experience the unique sights, sounds and tastes of Africa, they’re also directly helping to support local and international conservation projects for endangered wildlife,” says the Zoo’s field conservation programmes coordinator, Peter Fraser.
