Day 1 of NZB Ready to Run Breeze Ups a Success

Day 1 of the Breeze Ups for New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale was successfully completed this afternoon with 191 two-year-olds going through their paces at Te Rapa.

The opening day saw the two-year-olds Breeze Up over the final 200 metres of the Te Rapa straight, with each lot individually timed and filmed. To download a copy of the Breeze Up times, click here.

Today’s Breeze Ups were held in blustery conditions and saw the 191 two-year-olds take to the track which was rated a dead 4. With the running rail out 12 metres, the average time for the day was 10.94 seconds.

The fastest time of the day went to Lot 366, Kilgravin Lodge’s Towkay colt from the Red Ransom mare Tereshkina who Breezed Up in 10.16 seconds.

Heat 20 saw two colts from Venture Thoroughbreds, Lot 35 (Patapan x Birdie) and Lot 288 (Statue of Liberty x Reptiles) Breeze Up in a smart time of 10.26 seconds.

The first heat of the day saw Lyndhurst Farm’s Falkirk colt at Lot 27 also run the 200 metres in 10.26 seconds. The colt is a half-brother to the stakes placed Mercedario (Bigstone) and Let Me Handle It (High Chaparral).

Lyndhurst Farm also sent out the Encosta de Lago half-brother to Group 1 winner Green Birdie (Lot 215) and the Northern Meteor colt from the family of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success (Lot 387) who Breezed Up in 10.56 and 10.63seconds respectively.

Every horse had blood taken immediately after its breeze up gallop to permit screening by a purchaser against a saleday sample.
