Tararua Shield starts this weekend
The Tararua Shield competition commences this Sunday with the Wellington City and Hutt Valley Representative teams travelling outside the region to play One Day games against Manuwatu and Wairarapa.
The Tararua Shield is a new quadrangular competition that sees each team play each other once in a series of One Day games, culminating in a finals weekend in Palmerston North in February. This programme has been developed to strengthen the pathway to Domestic Cricket, and provide additional games for players striving to push for higher honors. The players are picked out of club cricket, with Hutt Clubs contributing players to the Hutt Valley team and Porirua and Wellington clubs providing players to the Wellington City team.
This weekend sees the Hutt Valley team travel to Masterton to play Wairapara at Rathekeale College, while the Wellington City team will take on Manuwatu in Palmertston North. Both Wairarapa and Manuwatu will make a return trip to Wellington on Sunday 25 November.
