Cybèle and Meadowlark designer T-shirts help raise funds for SPCA Auckland
Animal lovers can now display their preference for dogs or cats with new fashion T-shirts – and all proceeds will go to the SPCA Auckland annual Paws Appeal Week.
Meadowlark and Cybèle donated the T-shirt designs and fleshed out their ideas into a range of tote bags, mugs, and kids’ T-shirts.

“We approached designers we knew loved animals and asked them to donate their designs to our appeal,” says SPCA Auckland CEO Christine Kalin. “Meadowlark and Cybèle both responded with enthusiasm and have come up with two beautifully different designs – one for cat lovers (Meadowlark) and one for dog lovers (Cybèle).
Everything – T-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and kids’ T-shirts – will go on sale online at www.spca.org.nz from Saturday 3 November to coincide with the beginning of Paws Appeal Week, the SPCA’s annual national appeal. This year SPCA Auckland needs to raise $200,000 to meet increased running costs.
Cybèle Wiren of Cybèle says:
“I was excited to be approached by the SPCA to do this project. Our print is this little character that epitomises adorable and adoptable. He's inspired by the beloved pets I had as a child that came from the SPCA. He's also connected to the series of animal apparition prints from our upcoming Winter 13 collection ‘Nocturne’. They are overlaid with imagery of roses, and if you look closely that what makes up the texture of his fur.”
Claire Hammon of Meadowlark says:
“It all started with an adorable big black cat called Samuel. He’s part of the office team here at Meadowlark and the inspiration for our latest collection – The Love Cats – which is full of feline references like kitty paws clutching semi-precious stones and whimsical cat earrings. He’s also part of the reason we’re stoked to be collaborating with the SPCA, who do an incredible job trying to ensure every cat (and every other animal besides) gets the love Samuel does. We've extended our Love Cats theme to create this special print and a necklace exclusively for the project.”
SPCA Auckland would like to thank both Cybèle and Meadowlark for embracing this project. We would also like to thank everyone who worked hard to make the photo shoots happen, including photographer Olivia Hemus, MAC, Stephen Marr, and 62 Models.
Buy the T-shirts and other merchandise at www.spca.org.nz from Saturday 3 November 2012 and all proceeds will go to SPCA Auckland. The Love Cats necklace can be bought online directly from Meadowlark at www.meadowlark.co.nz and $65.00 from the sale of each necklace will go to SPCA Auckland.
