Triathlon Partners with Leading Insurance Advisory Firm

Triathlon Partners with Leading Insurance Advisory Firm

Triathlon New Zealand has partnered with leading insurance advisers BRAVEday to provide insurance advice and management services for its High Performance Programme athletes, and to offer similar opportunities to the thousands of TRIBE members throughout the country.

BRAVEday Claims Manager Tania Young explains why BRAVEday chose to become involved with Tri NZ.

“Being involved with Tri NZ is an exciting opportunity to get on board with a sport that’s going places and growing. Triathletes are real go-getters in our community and are the ones that live boldly every day. These are the sort of people that we want to be associated with. Their motivation and drive is what inspires us, we are very proud to be associated with Tri NZ.”

Tri NZ CEO Craig Waugh says once Commercial Manager Carl Jackson sat down with BRAVEday to understand their business and the links with the triathlon community, it was a logical step to add BRAVEday to the family of official suppliers to the sport.

BRAVEday will benefit from exposure to our ever growing TRIBE membership and be visible at all of our events throughout the summer, including the Contact Tri Series and on our various media products including our television show, radio show and the triathlon.org.nz website.

“Our HP athletes will benefit immediately with access to a fully subsidised medical plan, meaning no stand down period or waiting lists to deal with, including any pre-existing conditions or injuries they may have. Additionally they will have access to the comprehensive list of services and advice that BRAVEday offer.”

TRIBE members will have the advantage of being able to call on BRAVEday to provide advice and support for their personal and business insurance needs, ensuring that their cover is right for them whatever their stage of life. More importantly, BRAVEday fights for its clients at claim time – this is backed by a 100% claims record.

BRAVEday was first alerted to the possibility of a partnership with Tri NZ when reading of Nicky Samuels story as she sought remedies to her ongoing heart problems through the public health system. BRAVEday is able to offer elite athletes in the Tri NZ High Performance Programme the benefits of a group plan that does not preclude any existing conditions, such as was the case with Samuels.

Dean Young explains what is on offer to Triathlon New Zealand and TRIBE members.

“We offer access to the best advice, insurance products and service available in the market. By this we mean honest, straight up advice and regular contact with a team that has ‘got your back’ if the unexpected happens.”

“The best advice we can provide to TRIBE members with regards to their personal insurance is:

• “Understand what cover you have” – so you know where you are spending your money.
• “Get it before you need it” - to avoid exclusions.
• “Make sure you choose an adviser or provider that you trust and you know will fully represent you and go into bat for you at claim time”.
• “Review your cover regularly” – life changes your insurance needs to keep up.

“Not many people realise insurance is all about keeping your options open. That’s why we need to know what’s important to you.

“The process of looking after you at claim time starts when we meet you for the first time and talk about your life. We talk about the options that are most important to you. Most notably we fight for you at claim time – this is when we do our best work – claim time!”

BRAVEday will begin their partnership with Tri NZ immediately, with benefits rolling out to the HP athletes, staff and of course to the TRIBE community throughout New Zealand.
