Contemporary Kiwi art bargains to go under the hammer
Contemporary Kiwi art bargains to go under the
hammer
Turners Auctions is putting more
than $35,000 worth of New Zealand art up for sale at bargain
prices.
The collection of 19 modern art pieces has been put up for auction through TradeMe, following an insurance claim. The artwork has sustained light water marking caused by a leak from a fresh water fitting.
“This auction is an opportunity for Kiwi art lovers to secure a piece of art from some of our top contemporary artists, at significantly discounted prices. There is minimal damage to the pieces, in most cases the damage is not immediately noticeable, however art collectors with a keen eye may pick up on some light water markings or stretches in the canvas,” says Graham Roberts, chief executive of Turners Auctions.
Among the collection is work by Paul Deacon, including oil paintings ‘Tasman Storm’ and ‘A Following Wind’, together valued at $7,700. Two acrylic paintings ‘Three Ladies’ and ‘Princess’ by Liz Bristow are valued at more than $3,400.
In addition, the collection boasts a piece by Jenny Chisholm titled ‘Lone Tree’, which uses a wood relief technique. This unframed piece is valued at $2,200.
Each piece from the collection is individually listed on TradeMe, the auction closes on Monday evening, December 17. To view the pieces visit: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=3033964&cid=339
