Womad Reunites Sisters Winner Of The Womad Win A Trip Competition Announced
Sisters separated by following their own paths are to be reunited at Womad 2013 in Taranaki.
Having emigrated from Canada to New Zealand after falling in love with the country, Mikaela Lewis nominated her younger sister, Jacquie to win the Womad 2013 ‘Win A Trip’ competition. Jacquie, currently studying for a medical degree in Canada will fly to New Zealand for the Womad festival, be reunited with her sister, stay in one of the luxurious Glamping tents at the festival and experience all the wonders that Womad has to offer.
Nominations were submitted via the WOMAD 2013 website and alongside voting by the general public; the final decision was made by a panel of judges based on outstanding creative expressions of what the nominated person would love about WOMAD.
A new initiative for the
2013 Womad Festival, marketing and communications manager
Lisa McMullan was delighted at the response to the offering
of the Win A Trip competition giving entrants the
opportunity to fly in a friend for the WOMAD experience –
from anywhere on the planet.
Ms McMullan says the judges
were humbled by the efforts entrants went to and the depth
of feeling and sincerity expressed of the wonder of the
festival.
About the winning entry Ms McMullan commented
“All the entries were very creative but there was
something very special about sisters vying to be reunited
with each other that pulled everyone’s heart strings and
the creativity of their video won over the judges.”
