Restricted fire season for Stratford

Restricted fire season for Stratford

With the continuing lack of rain Stratford District Council is now moving to a restricted fire season.

The restriction comes into force from midnight, Tuesday 26 February 2013. This means that permits are required for all open air fires. Residents who need a permit, should contact Council on (06) 765 6099. There is no charge for a fire permit.

“Do not start a fire you cannot stop”, says Principal Rural Fire Officer, Kieran Best.

If you light a fire without a permit, or if a permitted fire gets out of control, the full cost of extinguishing the fire will be charged to the property owner.

Residents are reminded to phone the Fire Service on 111 if they see a fire.
