Auckland Cricket - Quinn in to face Stags

Auckland Cricket - Quinn in to face Stags

12 March 2013

The Auckland Aces will have just one change to their squad to face the Central Stags at Eden Park Outer Oval tomorrow with Matt Quinn coming into the 12 for the game.

Quinn replaces all-rounder Donovan Grobbelaar who has been ruled out due to illness.

The Aces might well be hoping for the chance to bat first again tomorrow on an Eden Park surface that has produced almost 1500 runs and two victories for the home side in their last two games.

Coach Matt Horne's top order has so far produced seven centuries in their first five games and he's hoping that his side can maintain their form with the bat.

"We've seen some great performances so far and the guys are redefining what's possible with the bat in every game. It's been great for the team's confidence but we'll need to be at our best tomorrow as this game is probably do or die stuff for Central."

The Stags sit on eight points with three rounds to play and a loss tomorrow would be a big blow to their semi-finals hopes, whilst the Aces would all but confirm their semis spot with a victory.

The 12 from which a team will be named for tomorrow's game starting at 11am is as follows:

Gareth Hopkins (Captain) (Parnell)
Michael Bates (Suburbs New Lynn)
Craig Cachopa (Takapuna)
Colin de Grandhomme (Howick Pakuranga)
Matt Quinn (Cornwall)
Dusan Hakaraia (Grafton United)
Anaru Kitchen (Waitakere City)
Tim McIntosh (Parnell)
Chris Martin (Parnell)
Kyle Mills (Howick Pakuranga)
Colin Munro (Howick Pakuranga)
Bhupinder Singh (Papatoetoe)
