Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series finale race offers 14km and 5km option
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (06 May 2013) – The final race of the Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series will now offer two distances to ensure social runners and walkers can enjoy Lake Wanaka’s stunning lake side tracks on Saturday 18 May.
The fourth race offers two scenic courses which travel along the shoreline and provides stunning views across Lake Wanaka throughout. A 14.1km race from Glendhu Bay to Roy’s Bay and a 5km race from Roy’s Bay to Waterfall Creek and return. Walkers can enjoy both courses with an earlier start time for the longer course.
Race director Victoria Murray-Orr said the third series has proved popular with runners of all abilities and ages participating, “With colder weather just around the corner this is a great end of season race to do,” she said. “Creating the series has encouraged people to stay fit and healthy whilst enjoying Wanaka’s fantastic network of tracks.”
The race will also determine the overall series winners with the fastest male and female runners claiming the Pawson Adventure Fund series trophies, a cash prize and Kathmandu sports’ jackets.
The 14km race starts at Glendhu
Bay at 10am, with an earlier start time of 9am for walkers,
it passes Damper Bay and on to Waterfall Creek, the 5km race
starts at Roy’s Bay, Wanaka. Both races finish at Roy’s
Bay in Wanaka.

Series, an off-road running series which explores the
spectacular lakeside and river tracks in Lake Wanaka. The
Glendhu Bay Track is part of the Te Araroa Walkway, a
3000-km trail stretching from Cape Reinga in the North to
Bluff in the South.
There is a fantastic prize pool up for grabs including cash prizes for place getters, plus plenty of spot prizes including vouchers for local cafes, restaurants and retailers.
