Brother title sponsorship confirmed for third BNT V8ST round
Print and Imaging specialist Brother has been confirmed as the title sponsor for the next round of the BNT V8 SuperTourer series at the revised Pukekohe Park circuit on May 25 and 26.
The Brother 350 event will include 15 lap, 20 lap and 32 lap races for the SuperTourers on the new-look track and will have a support cast that will include a revitalised V8 Challenge Cup field, the UDC NZ V8 Utes, the Xtreme Sports and GT cars and the popular Suzuki Swifts.
As part of the celebration of 50 years of motorsport at the Pukekohe track, there will also be a display and demonstration runs on Saturday and Sunday by around a dozen cars with significant historical connections to the track.
The SuperTourer series will also be opening its doors to school children and their parents on the Saturday as it did with the second round of the championship at Christchurch. Up to 3,000 new fans came through the gates to see the action on Saturday and the offer is once again being extended to local schools in the Franklin and South Auckland areas.
In the BNT V8 SuperTourer series, a close fight is developing between Greg Murphy, Ant Pedersen and Daniel Gaunt at the front of the field with all three set to be on track for the event. Inaugural series champion Scott McLaughlin has had a difficult start to his title defence, but won the first V8 Supercar race at the ITM 400 event and is sure to be a fan favourite over race weekend. A full grid of 20 cars is expected for the event and with similar machinery and speeds to the V8 Supercars which raced at the track recently, the action is expected to be intense between the top drivers.
Brother’s Executive Chairman Graham Walshe explained: “It’s very appropriate at this time for Brother to back this historic 50 year celebration of Pukekohe, one of the most revered circuits in Australasia and a track synonymous with motorsport history in this country. Brother too has had a presence in the New Zealand market for over half a century and we are keen motorsport fans and keen to see the BNT V8 SuperTourer series go from strength to strength. The BNT V8 SuperTourer series highlights the best in motor racing technology and innovation in New Zealand and these are attributes which are celebrated in the Brother brand.
The company today is one of the leading providers of print and imaging equipment, sewing machines and labelling hardware in New Zealand and is active in motorsport already as sponsor of UDC NZ V8 Ute’s runaway 2013 series leader Chris Hanley and 9 times Superbike Champion Andrew Stroud.
