Million Dollar Dig winner
walks away with $10,000
Krista Yuen was the lucky Edge listener to have a one in 125 chance to dig up $1 Million Dollars.
Unfortunately this afternoon she didn’t hit the jackpot but did dig herself up $10,000 at Kohimarama Beach in Auckland.
The Edge’s number one Drive show*, hosted by Fletch & Vaughan teamed up with WooHoo NZ Tax Refunds to take part in their ‘Million Dollar Dig’.
“It was a shame we didn’t see Krista walk away with $1 Million Dollars but $10,000 will still get her that holiday she wants and more,” says The Edge Drive host Vaughan Smith.
“We would love another chance to give away a million dollars; maybe NZ Tax Refunds will want to team up again for more ‘whoohoo’ moments!”
Krista Yuen (aged 25) is an Early Childhood Educator. She is going to use her winnings for a holiday and to pay off some of her student loan.
“I’m stoked with $10,000; it will definitely buy me a great holiday and make a dent on the student loan. A million dollars would have been amazing, but it was hard work. What a work out trying to dig up the bags,” said Krista.
“We really do love providing Kiwi’s that true ‘whoohoo’ moment, that unexpected moment of true joy”, says Cilla Hegarty of NZ Tax Refunds.
“Normally it is as simple as getting back in your pocket the tax you’ve overpaid, but giving away even $10,000 rather than a million dollars today was still a superb ‘whoohoo’ moment. The promotion with The Edge has been fantastic, we couldn’t be happier, especially for Krista”.
Krista bet 19 other diggers this afternoon to secure her spot in the ‘Million Dollar Dig’. She then had five minutes to dig up as many bags as possible but only found one, bag number 55; it wasn’t the million dollar bag. It was revealed later that it was number 82 out of 125.
