Draft Public Art Policy: All welcome to attend
Draft Public Art Policy: All welcome to attend
Auckland Council is developing a new public art policy and is seeking feedback on the draft policy from those involved or interested in art in public places in Auckland. The draft public art policy "Art in public places" sets out a strategic framework to guide Auckland Council’s involvement in public art.
Come along to hear a short presentation on the draft policy by Rob Garrett who is the public art policy project manager, and ask questions and have your say.
WHEN: Thursday 6 June, 5.30 -
6.30pm
WHERE: Whitespace, 12 Crummer Road,
Ponsonby, Auckland
The public art policy articulates the council’s commitment to public art for the benefit of all Aucklanders. In addition to saying what the council will do, this policy aims to encourage the arts sector and Auckland’s communities to be involved in public art activity.
One of the challenges the policy seeks to address is the relative invisibility of Pasifika stories, art forms and art works in the public realm across Auckland. Therefore we are especially interested to receive feedback on the draft policy from Pacific artists, curators and arts groups of Auckland.
