Chateau Tongariro Mid Winter Ball Signals Start of Winter
Winter celebrations kick off around the Central Plateau for 2013 with the Chateau Tongariro Hotel Mid Winter Ball on Saturday 22nd of June.
The Mid Winter Ball is in its 12th year now and it reflects the start of the snowsports season.
The event is typically a sell out however due to last minute cancellations, some tickets have become available.
General Manager Kathy Guy believes that the timeless and elegant Chateau Tongariro Hotel is the perfect venue for this special event.
“For the Chateau the Mid Winter Ball defines the start of winter and has become an important part of our social calendar. This event is a highlight for all that attend giving the guests a taste of timeless elegance."
For the Mid Winter Ball, New Zealand’s well known Mermaids Band will provide entertainment.

Ruapehu Alpine Lifts opens the Turoa Ski Area the following weekend on Saturday June 29th and there is already good snow coverage over the Mt Ruapehu area.
Visitors to the Tongariro National Park can enjoy a snow experience at the base areas of both ski areas until the Ski Areas officially open.

contstructed in 1929 and extended in 2005. The hotel is a
4-star Qualmark graded facility within the Tongariro
National Park.
