Taking play to the next level at Avalon Park next Sunday
Children from across the region are invited to Avalon Park next Sunday 14 July to monkey-around on the new jungle-themed Amazon Tower for the first time.
The impressive piece of play equipment, standing at almost seven metres tall, will be officially opened with an informal ceremony at 11am.
The four-level structure features a slide, climbing frames, multiple platforms and stands out in bright green and yellow.
Deputy Mayor and chair of the Avalon Park Working Group David Bassett is looking forward to the tower becoming a drawcard for families.
“This new piece of pay equipment is fantastic and delivers on the promise made to give our children something exciting, challenging and of course fun.
“A lot of hard work has gone in to this project and I want to thank everyone involved who has championed making Avalon Park once again our city’s premier playground.”
Mayor Ray Wallace also acknowledges the community’s involvement.
“During the consultation phase of this project we received many submissions from people of all ages passionate about the future of Avalon Park. I was particularly impressed by the number of children who wrote to us and I hope to see many of them on Sunday whizzing down the slide.”
On Sunday 14 July a free sausage sizzle will be on offer to celebrate the opening and the Lions Train will run free from 11.30am to 1pm.
