Want to know how to sound your very best?

New Zealand’s professional audio suppliers are getting together at the end of July to present a trade show of all that’s new in the pro audio world. Covering all aspects of audio from performance, live and studio recording to multi-media broadcast, the PRO AUDIO SHOWCASE 2013 will be a fascinating display of the latest pro audio products and services available from our leading distributors.

The PRO AUDIO SHOWCASE 2013 will be held over two days (Wednesday/Thursday) July 31 and August 1, starting at 10am each day. The venue is the Ellerslie Event Centre (racecourse), just off the Greenlane roundabout of Auckland’s southern motorway. Pre-registration is recommended (there are door prizes each day) but entry and car parking are both free for PAS visitors.

The bi-annual PRO AUDIO SHOWCASE is about increasing product awareness and professional user knowledge. It will include a programme of educational seminars on Wednesday July 30. International and Industry Action
In news from Southern Collective Music, Dirty Saint are about to release their EP 'Professional Beggar (Camden Exile)'. They formed in the EP was produced by Greg Haver (he of Manic Street Preachers fame), recorded in NZ and the UK, mixed in England and mastered in New York. Debut single off it is Time Of Your Life, with good radio reports coming in from the UK. In 2012 they headlined day 1 of the Ravelength festival, they've played with I Am Giant in Manchester, and were invited to perform at the O2 Academy in London. Their video for ' Devil' was previewed on C4's Homegrown show this week. Southern Collective have also agreed on an alliance with USA-based label Sour Mash for all releases; with Hannah Fryett as their pilot artist (see New Release Fanfare for more about her). It sells Flying Nun Records, Arch Hill Recordings plus a whole bunch of stuff from fellow labels Captured Tracks, Muzai, Fishrider and more. Generally old and new records they like. On the live front
Aucklanders! You're invited to a very special event at the Wine Cellar and Whammy bar this Saturday, with proceeds to go to SAFE. The event will invite guests to participate in a ‘social experiment’ where they collect points as they move around the maze set up throughout the underground space. Interactive performances of dance, projected video artworks, and spoken word will be placed around the maze, waiting to be discovered by the guests or ‘human subjects’ in the experiment. A backdrop of sound from an impressive line-up of local acts, including Tourettes (spoken word), Deer Park, $noregazZzm, Randa and Psychic Glands, will provide a hypnotic accompaniment to the artworks. Sola Rosa hit the road again with their first two shows this July in Wellington and Auckland, and more dates being announced for September that will take in the whole country. This winter the show is set to sizzle with a new line up and new tracks. The musical formation of brainchild Andrew Spraggon takes on new comer Sam Allen, with Cherie Mathieson, Ben White and Matt Short. The tour will feature tracks they've never before played live, and brand new tunes fresh out the studio door . The tour supports their album Low and Behold, High and Beyond, and the long awaited vinyl release of Promise ft Olivier Daysoul, and the remix of that track by renouned American producer Tall Black Guy. Katchafire are finally back in Aotearoa New Zealand after successful tours of Europe, UK and USA in 2013. “The Best So Far” tour celebrates the new best of album from the 7-piece Hamilton band and includes songs from all four of their studio albums to date. It has been a busy time for the band in 2013 but they are keen to not only showcase their hits, but to give their fans a taste of brand new material too which will be heard for the first time. Sharing the stage will be Auckland’s own Sons Of Zion. The boys from South Auckland and Whangarei have been in high demand since releasing their new tracks “Tell Her”, “Superman”, and “Good Love” in 2013. With their album due to be released September 2013, Sons of Zion are one hard working NZ reggae act to keep your eyes on. P-Money made a triumphant return with the recent release of his new album Gratitude. Now fans, beat-heads, DJs and tastemakers will be treated to the 'Gratitude Instrumental Versions', dropping on July 19. As listeners have figured out, Gratitude is a record that marks P-Money’s return to his hip-hop roots and now the renowned producer and DJ explores yet another way to show gratitude to his fans. “For me I always enjoy getting instrumental versions of my favourite songs. Firstly because I'm a fan of producers and beats, and secondly so I can mix them into my DJ sets. Also they’re good for aspiring rappers and songwriters to use for inspiration. Hopefully people have fun with these instrumental versions and put them to good use!”. In the lead up to the release, P-Money will make some of the album’s tracks available for streaming via Soundcloud, providing fans a taste of what’s to come on July 19. Gratitude features appearances from some of the biggest names in the underground hip-hop game along with some of our finest homegrown talent. Hannah Fryett from Tauranga (Southern Collective Music) is about to release her debut single, Make Her Yours. Hannah made it to boot camp on X Factor 2013. She and Matamata-based The Latest Fallout are both appearing live with Massad for a Cancer Charities fundraiser on Saturday 3rd August at the Paeroa War Memorial Hall. Warning: Heads will be shaved!

Asia Pop 40 launched in Asia last week and is the first regional weekly chart countdown radio show produced in Asia specifically for Asian radio, A&R Worldwide can reveal. Asia Pop 40 made its worldwide debut on Friday July 5, from 2:00PM – 5:00PM on MediaCorp Radio’s Class 95 in Singapore and is repeated each Saturday evening at 9pm. Each week Asia Pop 40 counts down the most popular downloads on iTunes across Asia, showcasing iTunes charts from multiple markets to produce a pan-regional radio program.

Asia Pop 40’s English version is hosted each week by Asia’s own Dom Lau. Dom is one of the most recognized personalities in Asian media thanks to his work as anchor for E! News Asia. Dom established his music credentials as a VJ for five years on FOX International Channel’s music network, Channel [V].
