Jackie Thomas Wins the X Factor NZ
The X-Factor Decided, Jackie Thomas Celebrates
Jackie Thomas has been
crowned the Winner of The X Factor NZ during tonight’s
Grand Final Decider broadcast LIVE on TV3. Whenua Patuwai
was the runner up, with Benny Tipene coming third.
The 22-year-old Greymouth singer had a rocky start to the competition. Although Jackie impressed the Judges with her audition performance of ‘Skinny Love’, she was eliminated during the Bootcamp phase of the competition. Mentor Daniel Bedingfield was convinced of Jackie’s potential, and brought her back for Judges’ Retreats, before selecting her for the Top 13.
Jackie never looked back, and Bedingfield’s confidence paid off tonight, with New Zealanders voting Jackie their inaugural Winner of The X Factor NZ.
Tonight Jackie said: “I’ve made myself so proud. I never thought I could do this, and I have. Thank you so much New Zealand.”
Mentor Daniel Bedingfield said: “It’s often the purest voices are the deepest.”
Along with the much-coveted title, Jackie has won a recording contract with Sony Music International, and a brand new Ford Kuga.
The X Factor NZ Executive Producers Andrew Szusterman congratulated Jackie and the other two finalists.
“It’s been a hellava series, a massive production with a fantastic production team and incredible talent from around the country. Tonight we have a well-deserved winner, and we’re excited that Jackie Thomas is going to have the number one single on the New Zealand Top 40 this week.”
Managing Director Sony Music New Zealand Ltd, Kim Boshier says: “What an incredible journey and talented group of finalists. We are delighted to welcome Jackie to Sony Music and look forward to working with her to build a long and successful career.”
Jackie’s debut single ‘It’s Worth It’ will be available to purchase on iTunes NZ here from 10.30pm tonight. Her self-titled album will be released on Friday 9 August, and is available to pre-order from today (Tuesday 23 July).
