New shows in August have prime time covered
New Zealand documentaries, gardening antics, high action combat sports and a Kiwi take on American football – Face Television has entertainment covered with brand new shows launching in August.
From Wednesday, August 7 at 7:30pm Face Television on SKY Channel 89 and UHF channel 41 will provide the thinking masses with a New Zealand documentary series called Natural Features from the University of Otago.
This compelling documentary series examines issues from captive breeding of Tuatara and saving them from extinction, self discovery while chasing an Australian wedge-tailed eagle, curling culture in Central Otago and the controversial use of aerial 1080 in New Zealand – is it really our last defence against the mammal invasion?
The eight-part series includes award winning documentary River Dog by Daniel Hunter and James Muir about one man’s struggle to save the Pahaoa River. After River Dog first screened two of the worst serial polluters in the community sold up and moved out of the area. For the first time in 4 years fish have been seen in the river and the river side is teaming with life.
August will also see the launch of more light hearted entertainment including Garden Guru from August 27 on Wednesdays at 8:30pm. Each episode features practical and inspiring advice from a diverse team of experts. Discover new plants and products, pick up new gardening trends, and learn top water saving tips and sustainable ideas. There is always something new, something useful and something to brighten even the dullest day.
Meanwhile Sunday nights has become the home of sport on Face Television. There is Steeldome Gladiators at 8:30pm, a sport that crosses American football and rugby 7’s to create a simpler, faster and better sporting experience.
Steeldome Gladiators is followed by FightSports at 9pm which is a 30 minutes of rough and tumble contact action featuring Mixed Martial Arts, boxing, Muay Thai, Cage Muay Thai, kickboxing along with other combat sports. It’s a true bloke’s night in.
With a smorgasbord of entertainment to suit all tastes Face Television CEO Jim Blackman says programmes like these add to much needed diversity in prime time.
