New Flavours and Features At Taste of Auckland 2013

New Flavours and Features At Taste of Auckland 2013

The fifth Taste of Auckland festival will tantalise taste buds as it comes alive with a host of new partnerships, highlights and aromas in 2013 at Victoria Park.

Mondo Travel, the New Zealand owned and operated fresh faced travel brand, will be joining with Taste of Auckland this year to be the major sponsor of the Mondo Travel VIP Lounge.

Mondo’s marketing manager Gordy Bayne says they have a passion and drive for motivating people to travel with a focus on food and wine.

“We think this is the number one reason that inspires people to travel the world,” says Bayne.

To celebrate this new partnership, one lucky guest will win a trip for two to Sydney at Taste’s opening night reception in the Mondo VIP Lounge on Thursday 14 November.

Another classy company to join the Taste entourage is Plumm Glassware. Plumm will be bringing a wine theatre to the festival as well as wine writer and consultant Matt Skinner.

Visitors will be in good hands with Skinner who famously taught Jamie Oliver all about wine. He will be presenting over the four days on how to match wines, wine tasting, and finding the perfect glass for the perfect drop.

Participants can expect to try some great wines over each 45 minute class and will each take home a set of four glasses worth $138 (cost of the class is $70).

The festival favourite Fisher & Paykel Chef’s Kitchen will open with a demonstration from Taste regular and Metro top chef Des Harris of Clooney restaurant, and will have presentations from Auckland’s premier food maestros over the four days, hosted by Nadia Lim.

BMW are working closely with Josh Emett on a new experiential feature and the festival’s music director Peter Urlich has been working on the music line-up which will be released in October.

Lemongrass Productions director Rob Eliott, who organises Taste of Auckland, says this year’s festival is gearing up to be the best yet.

“The support for this festival just keeps growing. We’re extremely happy with the new sponsors, restaurants and producers we have on board for our 2013 event. Visitors will be able to experience more than ever before – it’ll be an incredibly indulgent four days in Victoria Park and a suitable celebration for the festival’s fifth birthday,” he says.
