Heading to New Zealand and Australia For Stand Up Tour

Rosie O’Donnell

Heading to New Zealand and Australia For Stand Up Tour

After the superstar announced it via her Twitter back in September, The Frontier Touring Company is happy to confirm that comedian, actress, author, activist and all round cultural icon, Rosie O’Donnell will bring her legendary and irreverent wit to New Zealand and Australia for a no holds barred stand up tour this January and February!

From her humble beginnings of consecutive wins on eighties talent show ‘Star Search’, O’Donnell’s brashness and boldness quickly found itself on the big screen, standing out amongst her contemporaries with show stealing supporting turns in contemporary classics like ‘A League Of Their Own’, ‘Sleepless In Seattle’ and ‘Now And Then’, as well as a Broadway performance and countless voice roles with that unmistakable Long Island accent.

After showing her unique gift balancing the fine line between brave and big-hearted, O’Donnell’s talents took her to the logical next step - her own daytime talk show. Unsurprisingly ‘The Rosie O’Donnell Show’ would prove to be a huge success with O’Donnell’s heart-on-her-sleeve nature welcoming multiple celebrities to her couch and winning the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show host over six consecutive years and Outstanding Talk Show across four.

Armed with her razor sharp wit and disarming honesty, O’Donnell signed on as co-host and moderator of the often polarizing daytime talk show ‘The View’ in 2006. With O’Donnell as its most outspoken cast member, ratings instantly skyrocketed and the comedian was credited with balancing the show with a renewed focus on news, politics and cerebral humour as well as the more light hearted fare. This resulted in Time Magazine naming O’Donnell as one of 2007’s ‘most influential people’.

After leaving ‘The View’, O’Donnell didn’t stay out of the spotlight for long with recurring roles ‘Drop Dead Diva’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Nip/Tuck’, ‘The Fosters and Smash’ as well as taking that trademark voice to its natural progression – radio, with her own show; ‘Rosie Radio’. She has also proved her adeptness wielding the mighty pen having released two autobiographical books ‘Find Me’ and ‘Celebrity Detox: The Fame Game’, the former debuting at number two on The New York Times Bestseller List.

Almost as much as comedy, O’Donnell has established herself as a remarkable philanthropist. She used the three million dollar pay day to establish her ‘For All Kids’ Foundation to help institute national standards for day care across the country, awarding over twenty seven million dollars in Early Childhood Care and Education program grants to over 1,400 child-related non-profit organizations. After Hurricane Katrina, O’Donnell set up a fund to provide three million dollars to displaced families and in 2003 she set up ‘Rosie’s Theatre Kids’ a program that provides free in-school, after-school and summer instruction in musical theatre to the public school children of New York City. O’Donnell has also proven herself an integral part of the LGBTI rights movement within Hollywood, the comedian has proven the best weapon is an artillery of rapid-fire witticisms.

Despite her massive empire O’Donnell’s heart remains with stand-up, and now the queen of comedy is set to reclaim her rightful place on the throne with a no-holds-barred tour of down under that is set to leave both nations in stitches. Don’t miss your chance to see this icon at her irreverent best.
