Inaugural NZ Defence Official Award
Inaugural NZ Defence Official Award
Wellington, Nov 14 – The inaugural NZ Defence Industry Association Defence Official Award was won by Brigadier Charles Lott who received the award tonight at the end of a two-day international forum at the Michael Fowler centre.
Brig Lott was conferred the award for “demonstrating exceptional drive and commitment as Commander Logistics to change across the COMLOG organisation and for significant contribution to the improvement of Defence/Industry relationships in the past year”.
He was nominated for engaging NZ defence industry to work with the Defence Force in the formulation and delivery of innovative value propositions in the delivery of maintenance and support.
Brig Lott said that for many years the Defence Force has given the industry many awards for collaboration and excellence.
“The Defence Force is trying to engage the industry as we can no longer do things on our own. My team has taken the bull by the horns and the award recognises our contribution to this collaborative approach to the relationship.
“Our contribution goes back a number of years and the business we are in is a long game. And that’s what the award recognises.
“The award clearly recognises the partnership between the Defence Force and industry, not only in New Zealand but internationally.”
Brig Lott is driving positive change across Defence and industry and continues to challenge industry to think innovatively around value and delivery while maintaining a viable business.
The award also recognises the whole team for its contribution.
The theme of the forum “Opportunities in a changing economic environment” centred on a shared goal of building effective alliances across the region and took advantage of the need for all parties to adapt to changes faced in equipping NZ Defence Force with capability and support services.
The forum culminated with the Minister of Defence Awards of Excellence to the Industry tonight. These awards recognise companies that have provided exceptional goods and/or services to the New Zealand Defence Force over the past two years.
(The NZDIA is made up of a number of NZ defence related industries and its aim is to provide maximum NZ input to NZDF activities and also provide the stimulus for growth in the national economy through generating export markets for goods and services.)
