NOVEMBER 24, 2013: Four separate bike brands tasted success at the opening round of the New Zealand Supercross Championships near Timaru on Sunday.

Bay of Plenty Honda rider Cody Cooper dominated the senior Open Class with a hat-trick of wins at the Backflips Clothing-sponsored event, fellow Mount Maunganui rider Rhys Carter took his Suzuki to win the Senior Lites class, Hamilton's Josiah Natzke (KTM) won the Junior 250cc class and Australian visitor Sam Noonan (Yamaha) won all three Junior 85cc class races.

There is no rest for the competitors with the second and final round set for Winton on Thursday evening.

Cooper leads Australian pair Matt Haworth (Yamaha) and Sam Duncanson (Honda), the two trans-Tasman visitors sharing the No.2 spot in the Open Class, the dynamic duo a massive 17 points behind Cooper.

In the Senior Lites (250cc) class, Carter leads Australian Yamaha ace Jay Wilson by just one point, with Amberley's Micah McGoldrick (Honda) in third spot overall, just another six points adrift.

The Junior class battles are similarly intense, although Natzke is a solid 11 points clear of Winton Honda rider Kyle Hartley.

In the youngest category, Noonan leads Havelock North's Oliver Ayre (Yamaha) by nine points.
