RSC's Richard II to Premiere at Kings Theatre


Royal Shakespeare Company’s Richard II to Premiere at Kings Theatre, Stratford

November 25th – ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY’S “Live from Stratford-upon-Avon” RICHARD II, will receive its New Zealand premiere at the iconic Kings Theatre in Stratford, on the 30th of November at 7:00pm. Rialto Distribution are proud to announce that this production of William Shakespeare’s RICHARD II, with David Tennant (Dr Who), will be the first broadcast of “Live from Stratford-upon-Avon,” a program that will bring the RSC’s productions from Shakespeare’s home town, to local cinemas.

Following a phenomenally successful live broadcast on 13 November and subsequent ‘encore’ screenings, RICHARD II has had over 80,000 admissions and generated over £1M in box office revenue. The broadcast of RICHARD II will be the first of four RSC Shakespeare plays to be filmed live and marks the start of an on-going program to make the RSC’s work more available to a global audience. Over the next year three further productions will be broadcast across the world:

Henry IV Part I – Screened live Wednesday 14 May 2014
Henry IV Part II – Screened live Wednesday 18 June 2014
The Two Gentlemen of Verona – Screened live Wednesday 3 September 2014
